Payroll Services - BACS Service

BACS is a simple secure method which companies can utilise to make payments by electronic transfer directly into their employees bank or building society accounts. Many banks provide a range of BACS services for small businesses. In fact, around 90% of the UK workforce are paid via BACs avoiding the hassle of writing out cheques with employees waiting 4 days for their cheques to clear.

Payment to Employees
CompuPAYE will laser print your BACS submission forms ready completed just for you to sign before sending or faxing to your bank. For larger companies, we can submit your payment data in electronic csv file format via email attachment for you to import into your own systems.

The BACS processing is a 3 day cycle - working days. Bank holidays and weekends are excluded from this cycle.

Input day is the last possible day we can submit the fax to your bank. All the main High Street banks has already approved our form layouts.

You can submit the data by fax, telephone or PC input. We can arrange to fax your bank on your behalf. Submission day is usually pre-booked in advance from last month's submissions.

All payments are debited from your companies accounts on input day.

Payment files must be transmitted to BACS processing centre on or before the input day. You can submit Direct Credit payment instructions up to 30 days in advance of the payment date.

BACS ensure the payment file validation and output production is complete by 06.00

The receiving banks then process the payment data.

If you change your mind about paying the employee at this stage, then you need to contact your bank to arrange a BACS recall

All payments are credited to the employees accounts by 09.30.

Cost For This Service
Provided you are a client of ours and we are managing your payroll, there is no additional cost for the BACS reports. For a nominal fee, we can arrange to submit direct to your bank on your behalf. Your bank will charge you around 35p per employee which is still cheaper than writing out cheques which costs you around 80p per employee. In conjunction with your payroll administration, we will print the reports and send to you for signing before faxing your bankers or you can allow us to submit the salaries schedule to your bankers on your behalf.

We can help you set up the procedure with your bank. Existing clients can access our feedback page to contact us for further information. When you decide to pay your staff by Direct Credit, just contact your bank manager for an application form. They will advise you on the most cost effective method for your business. CompuPaye will help you with the application form if we are to fax on your behalf.
